We are honoured to announce that Prof. Muharrem Yazici will be awarded with the EPOS Pro Maximis Meritis Award for his extraordinary contributions to the field of paediatric orthopaedics and his continuous commitment for fostering innovation, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas across cultures, countries and continents.
Prof. Yazici is based in Ankara/Turkey, specialized in paediatric spine surgery as well as hip pathologies during growth. He earned his medical degree from Ankara University Medical School and completed his orthopaedic residency at Hacettepe University Ankara. Between 1995 and 1996, he persued a spine research fellowship under Prof. Marc Asher at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Prof. Yazici has held leadership roles in several professional organizations, including presidencies of the Turkish Society of Pediatric Orthopedics, of SRS Scoliosis Research Society and of EPOS. He is a founding member of the Pediatric Spine Foundation.
Throughout his career, he has contributed extensively to the field, authoring and co-authoring more than 170 peer-reviewed scientific papers, 2 books and 14 book chapters. He has delivered more than 200 invited lectures at international conferences and national society meetings. He has been invited to 14 Visiting Professorships.
His research interests focus on early-onset scoliosis, neuromuscular and congenital spine deformities, as well as innovative surgical techniques.
In recognition of his contributions, Prof. Yazici was awarded traveling fellowships by the Scoliosis Research Society and EPOS.
